OCI’s Community Advisory Committees

Community Budget Advisory Committees

Community Budget Advisory Committees (CBACs) are groups of community members that review and make recommendations on county departmental budgets and operations. There are ten CBACs, one for each Multnomah County department.

The CBACs recruit as openings are available, with most recruitment occurring in the summer months. Applications and more information are available year-round.

Community Involvement Committee

The Community Involvement Committee (CIC) serves as Multnomah County’s advisory body on community engagement and involvement. Together, the committee makes recommendations to the Office of Community Involvement, County departments and the Board of County Commissioners about opportunities for community engagement and removing barriers to civic participation.

The CIC recruits new members annually in the spring, usually February through April, with some extensions to July. Applications and more information are available year-round

Charter Review Committee

Multnomah County’s Charter requires that a Charter Review Committee (CRC) made up of community members be convened every six years to perform a comprehensive study of the charter to ensure that the document remains consistent with the community’s values and needs. If the CRC believes changes are needed, it can propose Charter amendments that the Board will submit to the voters of Multnomah County to decide via ballot.

The next CRC will convene in 2027, with applications accepted July 1, 2026-October 1, 2026. The CRC also has its own newsletter - view and sign up for the Charter Review Process Newsletter
