We value senior members of our community and we don’t want you to worry about where your next meal will come from. We are here to help with SNAP applications and navigating some of these other resources. Nutrition programs, like SNAP, Meals on Wheels and the Senior Farm Direct Nutrition Program can help you get the food you need to support your health and help to make ends meet.
Need support for older adults, people with disabilities, or caregivers? SNAP (food stamps)
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federal program that helps low-income individuals and families buy groceries. Eligibility is primarily based on income, though a few other factors may apply. By using SNAP to cover your food costs, you can free up your own budget for other essential expenses like housing, medical bills, and transportation.
Program Perks & Flexibilities:
- Shop your way: Order online (such as through Amazon or Walmart), pay for community meals like Meals on Wheels, or authorize a helper to shop for you using [this form].
- Senior & Disability benefits: If you are 60+ or disabled, deducting out-of-pocket medical expenses (see flyer) can increase your benefits! If your entire household is 65+ or disabled, your benefits are issued as cash for maximum flexibility. View the state’s medical expense deduction guide to see what qualifies.
- Extra savings: Qualifying for SNAP automatically unlocks other discounts, like the Oregon Telephone Assistance Program.
