Thursday, October 1st, 2020 6:30 – 8 PM | How to Be an Antiracist: An Evening of Art + Conversation with Dr. Ibram X. Kendi

  • WHAT: An inspiring evening featuring local artists and powerful speakers (local and national), all focused on the urgent need to become antiracists – for the sake of our nation and every one of us who calls it home. Guests saw relevant performances by local artists, heard a 20-minute presentation by Dr. Kendi and a 20-minute conversation with Dr. Kendi and Commissioner Hardesty, followed by 15 minutes of audience Q&A.

MYC & Commissioner Jessica Vega Pederson Youth Forum on the Intersections of Racial Justice, the Economic Crisis, the Climate Crisis & COVID-19.

About: Forum discussion on the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic recession, racial injustice, and the climate crisis. Joined by Lamar Wise, Political Organizer for AFSCME Council 75 and an organizer for the Re-imagine Oregon project, and Alana Nayak, a youth activist with the Multnomah Youth Commission, moderated by Oregon Representative Akasha Lawrence-Spence about young people’s perspectives on the issues we face and a discussion about how we can build a more equitable society.
