We are seeking to fill a vacancy to represent Multnomah County on the Region 1 Area Commission on Transportation (R1ACT).

The R1ACT is an advisory body for stakeholders to collaborate on transportation issues that affect Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Region 1. Region 1 covers the Portland metropolitan region - including all of Clackamas, Multnomah, and Hood River Counties as well as the eastern part of Washington County.

Applications must be submitted by Monday, March 23, 2026 at 5pm.

If you need help filling out this application, or need it in another format, please email sarah.tauer@multco.us for assistance.

R1ACT Purpose

The R1ACT advises the Oregon Transportation Commission (OTC) on state and regional transportation policies, and strengthens state and local partnerships in transportation planning, programming, and development. Members have the opportunity to hear from others with different perspectives and expand their knowledge of regional, local, and statewide transportation programs, policies, and funding.

Meetings

The R1ACT meets on the first Monday of every other month from 5:30-7:30pm. A majority of meetings are currently being held remotely over Zoom, but they hold some hybrid meetings as well.

Members must be willing to attend and actively participate in meetings. Members will need to set aside time to prepare for each meeting, but will have staff support in doing so as needed.

Membership

R1ACT is composed of 31 voting members, which includes representation from elected officials, transit agencies, private organizations, and various stakeholders. The R1ACT Bylaws designate certain groups that must be represented through stakeholders and we will take that composition into consideration when filling any vacancies.

Term of Office

R1ACT members serve staggered four-year terms. Membership nominations will happen as needed to fill vacancies.

If a stakeholder member changes employment or organizational status, a vote will be taken in the ACT to determine if they will continue to serve their term or if a replacement should be appointed.
