Multnomah County, Ore. (June 13, 2023) — UPDATE: The Hawthorne Bridge is now open after a short closure for an emergency repair. On Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. during a test lift, the electronic components that move the Hawthorne Bridge up and down malfunctioned. The bridge got stuck just a few inches and wasn't able to be moved down electronically. Crews were able to manually move the bridge down in order to reopen the bridge and resume traffic around 3 p.m.
