Multnomah County, Ore. (May 18, 2026) — Multnomah County’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division is thrilled to announce its 2026 Art Show Reception, marking a milestone in the event’s 16 year history.

For the first time ever, the annual showcase of the division’s clients’ artworks will move out of County offices to the professional Caldera Gallery space in Northwest Portland as part of the First Thursday in the Pearl District

The community is invited to a free public reception Thursday, June 4, to celebrate the creativity, talent and stories of artists living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

"The Art Show began as a conversation among a few staff about how enriching it would be for our clients and for our staff to elicit art from our program participants to hang on the walls of our office," said Natasha MacDonald, the creator of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division Art Show, who also serves as a committee chair and staff member.

"Over the last 16 years, the Art Show has become a cherished tradition that uplifts the artistic talents of our clients and allows us to help them shine and be recognized and valued in a manner not often made available to them. The Art Show and reception is a special way for our staff and the community to connect with our artists and recognize their strengths and abilities. Seeing our artists beam with pride as they show their art to reception attendees is always a beautiful moment to be able to witness."

The reception will feature a diverse collection of artwork. Attendees can also enjoy live musical performances from Multnomah County clients and staff members along with light refreshments while engaging with the creators behind the work.

“Caldera is honored to partner with Multnomah County to welcome artists and community members into our gallery space for this year's art show,” said Jessica Velazquez, Caldera’s director of advancement.

“We believe creativity helps people feel seen, connected and valued and that creative spaces should reflect the full diversity of our community. We're excited to celebrate these artists while extending the visibility of their work through Caldera's creative network and community partnerships.”

The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division serves nearly 8,000 residents experiencing neurodiversity — including autism, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome — and the Art Show serves as a vital bridge between artists and the Portland community. The event empowers individuals to showcase their unique perspectives, fosters support networks, and enhances their quality of life through creative expression.

Admission is free and no advance registration is required. Members of the press, art enthusiasts and the general public are encouraged to attend and support local neurodivergent talent.
