Multnomah County, Ore. (Oct. 8, 2026) — The deadline to register for the Nov. 3. General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Don’t wait: Right now is the time to register to vote or check that your voter registration information is up to date — including your current residence and mailing address. Voters who are not yet registered can complete their registration at www.oregonvotes.gov/myvote. You will be asked to provide your Oregon-issued driver's license or state ID card number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number, if you do not have an Oregon driver’s license or ID card.

Voters can also register in-person at the Multnomah County Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building (1040 S.E. Morrison St., Portland) or the Voting Center Express at the Multnomah County East Building (600 N.E. 8th St., Gresham), which opens today, Thursday, Oct. 8.

Voters can also update their information at www.oregonvotes.gov/myvote or with an Oregon Voter Registration Card (PDF). Paper registration cards are available in the U.S. Post Office, Multnomah County Library locations, the Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building and the Voting Center Express.

Both voter service locations are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Extended hours will begin Wednesday, Oct. 28, and run through Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Make a plan to VOTE!

This election includes contests for Congress, Oregon Legislature and Governor, as well as local contests that include the inaugural ranked choice voting (RCV) contests for Multnomah County Chair and District 2 Commissioner. Voters will also use ranked choice voting again in City of Portland Councilor and Auditor contests.

Plan ahead for the upcoming election:

  1. Ballots will begin to be mailed on Wednesday, Oct. 14. Plan for when you will receive your ballot, when and where you will vote, and how you will return your ballot.
  2. You can return your ballot in person. Drop off your ballot at any conveniently located Official Ballot Drop Site before 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
  3. You can return your voted ballot by mail. If you return your ballot by mail, be sure to mail it by Tuesday, Oct. 27, to ensure it’s postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 3, 2026 — that’s one week before Election Day.

Sign up for Track Your Ballot!

Multnomah County is urging every voter to sign up for the County’s Track Your Ballot service. Track Your Ballot will send alerts when your ballot is on its way to you, when it has been received and when it’s accepted for counting.

So far, more than 167,000 voters in Multnomah County have signed up.

Track Your Ballot is available in multiple languages! You can receive ballot alerts and updates in English, Spanish, Russian, Somali, Vietnamese, Ukrainian or Chinese.

Voters will also get access to a virtual Oregon “I Voted” sticker (ready to share on social media!) inside the “Accepted Ballot” message. Multnomah County voters can sign up by visiting multnomah.ballot trax.net.

Reminder: Ranked choice voting arrives for Multnomah County candidate contests this fall

For the Nov. 3, 2026, General Election, Multnomah County voters will join City of Portland voters in using ranked choice voting in candidate contests. In Multnomah County, this includes County Chair and District 2 Commissioner contests. In the City of Portland, this includes Portland City Auditor and City Councilors for Districts 3 and 4.

Ranked choice voting allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference instead of choosing only one candidate. This method allows someone’s vote to count toward another candidate if their favorite candidate will not be elected.

Visit multco.us/rcv to learn more about ranked choice voting and practice casting your vote in a contest to decide on the best Multnomah County natural area. These resources include a video describing how ranked choice voting works in the City of Portland and Multnomah County, as well as an overview of vote tabulation.

As in the 2024 General Election, Multnomah County Elections Division will be the sole source of results for all Multnomah County and City of Portland candidate contests. Ranked choice voting election results will be posted at rcvresults.multco.us.
