In 2006, MYC worked alongside nearly 3,000 youth across the region to form the first ever youth bill of rights for our City and County - Our Bill of Rights: Children + Youth. It was also the first Youth Bill of Rights in the nation to be endorsed by two local government bodies. The Youth Bill of Rights reflects the values and aspirations that youth in the community held at the time.
Since it has been nearly 20 years since our Youth Bill of Rights was first created, we are updating it with the input of today's youth. We created this survey to get feedback on the current Youth Bill of Rights. Specifically what still resonates, what is missing for today's youth, and anything that should be changed. We will also be out in the community doing in-person engagements to get youth feedback over the next six months.
