NEWS RELEASE: Community invited to free 2026 Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Information and Resource Fair on Thursday, May 21
Community members welcomed to connect with local services
Multnomah County, Ore. (April 23, 2026) — Multnomah County’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division invites community members — including people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and caregivers — to a free Information and Resource Fair on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The Information and Resource fair is scheduled for noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Oregon Department of Human Services Training and Conference Center (11826 N.E. Glisan Street, Portland). The fair aims to be a one-stop opportunity for Multnomah County residents in the intellectual and developmental disabilities community to learn about and connect with services.
"Since we started this journey in 2018, our Information and Resource Fair has grown into something truly special — a cornerstone for the families and individuals we serve,” said Tammorra Barnes, Interim Division Director.
“As the largest developmental and intellectual disability county-affiliated program in Oregon, we take great pride in creating a space where over 65 community partners and service providers come together under one roof. Our goal is simple: to ensure every individual and caregiver walks away feeling empowered, supported and ready to lead the way in their own lives. I am so excited to see everyone on May 21 as we continue building this vibrant community together.”
At the fair, attendees can meet with a variety of local service providers. Representatives from the State of Oregon’s Vocational Rehabilitation program, numerous brokerage agencies, and attendant care/in-home services providers will all be present to discuss resources, including:
- In-home services
- Day support activities
- Voter registration
- Employment
- Transportation
- Housing/rent assistance
Everyone is invited to drop by and get to know the service providers working in our community. The fair provides a simple, friendly way to learn about the various Multnomah County resources available throughout the year. Attendees will also be able to enjoy games (with prizes!).
The state Department of Human Services Conference and Training Center is near MAX and TriMet bus stops. Parking is also free for attendees. Advance registration is not required, so anyone interested in accessing services from the Multnomah County Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities program can come and discover the resources available to them.
More than 8 million people across the United States live with intellectual or developmental disabilities. In Oregon, over 40,000 people receive services through case management entities across the state, according to the state’s Office of Developmental Disabilities Services.
In Multnomah County, the Department of County Human Services' Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division serves over 8,000 individuals, including those with autism, cerebral palsy or intellectual disabilities, providing essential services to help people build full lives as part of the wider community.
The division works with people and families to determine eligibility and provide comprehensive case management that links clients to critical resources like residential and employment programs, in-home care, transportation and rent assistance.
The 2026 Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Resource and Information Fair provides a centralized location for learning about important resources, making it an invaluable opportunity that empowers individuals and families to make informed decisions, facilitates connections with support networks and services, and enhances the overall quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
