The Department of Community Justice Victim Services Unit’s mission is to uphold crime victims' rights and promote meaningful system change by enhancing partnerships, developing policy, and supporting advocacy best practices. We provide survivor-centered consultation on policy and procedures; ensure crime victim rights are upheld and integrated into supervision practices; educate DCJ staff and community partners around victim rights and best practices for supporting victims and survivors; collaborate with partners to engage in system change that is trauma informed, survivor-centered, and consistent with best practices; and provide advocacy and support to people impacted by individuals on community supervision.

Our Advocacy Program provides direct support to crime victims and survivors who have been harmed by a justice involved individual (JII) who is being supervised by the Department of Community Justice. We also provide support to JIIs on supervision who are experiencing complex trauma such as domestic or sexual violence, stalking, or sex trafficking. Our advocates offer trauma-informed and client-led services including: safety planning, advocacy, emotional support, trauma education, system information and navigation, information about an offender’s status, court accompaniment, collaboration with community providers, and referrals to community and culturally specific resources. Our advocates work 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. To connect with an advocate please call 503-988-7606 or fill out our online form.
