Cochran Bridge Repair

In 2025-6, we will replace the approaches to the Cochran Road Bridge over Beaver Creek.

Project Information

  • Location: SE Cochran Road, between Paloma and Troutdale (map)
  • Schedule: June 2025 to April 2026
  • Estimated Cost: $4 to $5 million
  • Funding Source: County Road Funds

Project Description

We will demolish and rebuild the road surface and related parts of the approaches to the Cochran Road Bridge over Beaver Creek.

This bridge was built in 2019 to replace an old culvert and allow salmon and other fish to migrate upstream. It used low-density cellular concrete (LDCC) in the approach fill. The LDCC has been leaching high pH water into the creek and nearby wetland.

This project will fully remove the LDCC from the bridge approaches and rebuild the roadway. It will stop the high pH discharge and reduce flows to the subdrainage system.

To do this, we must demolish and rebuild the road surface, shoulder, guardrail, storm drains, retaining wall and french drains. Damaged soil will be removed and replaced with clean wetland soils, and then replanted.

Traffic Impacts

During construction, SE Cochran Road will be fully closed between NE Paloma Avenue and S Troutdale Road. Signs will detour traffic onto SE Stark Street.
