The primary responsibility of the LPSCC is to approve the County's community corrections plans and some public safety grants. In practice, the LPSCC is a forum for public safety leadership to network, collaborate, and share new policy, practice and data.
Community Representatives have the opportunity to contribute to these important discussions. Community representatives are full voting members who help ensure a wide range of perspectives are represented.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Reside in Multnomah County
Attend monthly meetings. The Council currently meets monthly on the fourth Monday of each month from 1:30 to 3 p.m. (For more information about Council meetings, visit LPSCC's Meeting Page)
Have experience with or knowledge of the criminal legal system
Demonstrate some understanding of policy and/or experience working with policymakers
Preference is given to applicants who show they have:
Lived or learned experience with the criminal legal system
An understanding of how the criminal legal system impacts Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities
