The federal Food Stamps program is now known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The new name reflects a new national focus on putting healthy food within reach of low-income households. SNAP helps these households—who need not be destitute to qualify for assistance—buy food to meet their nutritional needs.
Being eligible for SNAP may also qualify you for other programs such as the Oregon Telephone Assistance Program and the Oregon Farm Direct Nutrition Program.
