Summer Nutrition Programs for Youth

Spread the Word: Family resources to buy groceries and find meals while school is out for summer break

Families have more ways to give kids the nutrition they need in summer when school is out. The Summer Meal Program and the Summer EBT Program offers convenient, flexible options to help youth reach their full potential.

Summer Meals

Many Summer Meals locations in Multnomah County will be open to all community youth to drop in and eat a free meal this summer. This includes parks, youth programs, Midland Library, and apartment and mobile home communities. Some schools are open for lunch, and many more are feeding students enrolled in summer school and camps.

Free Summer Meals are available to ALL youth ages 1- 18, without paperwork, income verification, and regardless of immigration status. Meals will be served on-site so plan to stay, eat and have fun.

To find an open meal site near you visit SummerFoodOregon.org, or call 2-1-1

Summer EBT

Summer EBT is a program to help families buy food for their school-aged children each summer. If you qualify, you will get a yearly payment of $120 for each eligible child to spend on food. Families use an Oregon EBT card to buy groceries at any store or farmers market that accepts Oregon EBT.

Most eligible families won’t have to apply.

  • Already have SNAP, TANF, or Oregon Health Plan (OHP)? Benefits for 2026 will be automatically loaded onto your existing Oregon EBT card beginning June 5, 2026. Children in foster care, enrolled in migrant programs, or experiencing houselessness are also signed up automatically. Children who are automatically eligible do not need to apply, and families will be notified in early June when benefits are issued. For newly eligible children who do not already have an Oregon EBT card, one will be mailed to the latest address on file.
  • Other families will be eligible to apply based on income. If you are not automatically eligible, you can apply for Summer EBT through the online portal or by using a paper application (available in 10 languages). Please note that students attending Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools where all students receive free meals are not automatically eligible for Summer EBT and may still need to apply.
  • Summer EBT is available regardless of immigration status- the program does not ask for immigration status and does not use immigration status to determine eligibility. The public charge rule does not apply to Summer EBT benefits.

More information: Visit sebt.oregon.gov (English) or ebtv.oregon.gov (Spanish) to learn more. The online application portal opens June 5, 2026, and applications are accepted through September.

Questions? Call the Summer EBT Call Center at 833-ORE-SEBT (1-833-673-7328) Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time. If you need a replacement card, call 855-328-6715. Get help by email at summerebtinfo@odhs.oregon.gov.

Stretch Your Food Dollars This Summer! Summer EBT benefits can be used for Double Up Food Bucks, just like SNAP. The program matches every $1 of benefits spent up to $20 on fresh fruit and vegetables. You can use Double Up at over 85 farmers market locations, 35 grocery stores and more than 40 CSA farms across the state. Visit doubleuporegon.org for locations.
