PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE: David Douglas School District School Board

My ties to the David Douglas School District began almost 40 years ago, when I started my education as a first grader at Gilbert Heights Elementary. I moved on to Gilbert Middle School (later named Alice Ott after our principal at the time) and graduated from David Douglas High School, with a solid foundation in academics, and hands-on experience from vocational training in the school's horticulture program.

After high school, I attended MHCC and OSU, earning a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. My husband and I married, moved back to Portland and started our family.

As our children approached school age, we knew we needed to find a school system that would provide them a first-rate education. We jumped at the opportunity to move back into the David Douglas area, where they could attend the same wonderful schools that I had attended.

My career has been devoted to education. For the past two decades, I have worked as a Head Start teacher and coordinator, home tutor, parent educator, and part-time community college instructor. I have participated in numerous activities that support quality education, including four years on the Gilbert Heights Site Council and six on the David Douglas School Board.

I care deeply for this community and its people, and look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve you.
