REACH works with local organization Play Grow Learn (PGL) to promote community health by increasing healthy food access through farm-to-market programs. With support from REACH, PGL hosts a BIPOC farmers and vendors market and runs a community supported agriculture program.
Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a system where buyers pledge to directly support local farmers in advance of the growing season. This agreement provides the community with a trusted source of fresh food and helps lessen the financial risks for farmers and growers by guaranteeing buyers.
REACH and PGL organize a unique, free CSA program providing fruits and vegetables for hundreds of families every year. The produce is sourced from Sufiya Farm, Asian Community Farmers, and PGL’s own farm.
While these CSA spots are need based and fill up quickly, people can still support local farmers and buy produce by coming to the REACHing Us People’s Market. The market accepts SNAP, Wallace tokens, and double-up bucks and is every Sunday from June 22 through November 2, 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the East County Courthouse lot 18480 SE Stark St 97233.
