Oregon spends a large amount of taxpayer dollars on education yet our state is consistently ranked in the bottom third in national standings. We are not providing a quality classroom experience for our students. I want to reverse the trend by focusing on a viable solution: Education that is child-centered with qualified teachers who are held accountable for insuring their students are productive and motivated. With a good foundation we will no longer short-change our children or the future of our great state.
We have the potential to change the status quo and I feel I have the qualifications and motivation to achieve that goal. I will:
- Insure accountability; your tax dollars going to students.
- Increasing graduation rates by instituting incentive programs that provide expanded opportunities.
- Insuring that students excel in the basic skills: Reading, writing, math and science.
- Exercising alternative teaching modalities.
- Providing ancillary programs to keep parents informed and involved.
