Working families deserve a voice at the table.
I have lived and worked in Gresham for 14 years. My children attended Hollydale, West Gresham, Clear Creek and Gresham High School. My wife and I work hard to represent our children's best interests as they discover how to envision and invent their future. I will work equally hard to represent the taxpayers' best interests as the District sets priorities.
That is why I am running.
Current economic realities demand that every aspect of our public schools be ESSENTIAL, EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT.
- ESSENTIAL – Are we focused on the Vital Basics of purpose and mission? Items not essential to the core function must be reduced or eliminated.
- EFFECTIVE – Are we getting the job done, completely and with excellence? Are we consistently defining, refining and achieving success?
- EFFICIENT - Are we maximizing existing resources? If a program is both essential and effective, can we refine the process for greater efficiency?
This 3-part litmus test must be applied to every budget item so that students and taxpayers alike can take pride in a superior school system that is a lean, mean, educating machine, focused on academic excellence above all else.
Like the working families who fund the district, Gresham-Barlow must live within a reality-based budget. Austerity should be a way of life with any tax-spending entity and the public schools are no exception, especially in these challenging times.
Students deserve a world-class education and taxpayers deserve a maximum return on their investment. If you agree that working families deserve representation and that students deserve a bright future, please vote for me.
