Twenty years ago my wife Ann and I made the decision to move to the Riverdale District so our three daughters would have the opportunity to receive their education at Riverdale. It has been one of our best decisions. To preserve that legacy for present and future families of this district is the most compelling factor which leads to my decision to run for the Riverdale School Board.
To preserve the educational environment we presently enjoy demands stewardship. Stewardship requires a perspective, not only for the present, but for what the future might bring based on what we have learned from the past.
With this philosophy, I see my role as a member of the Riverdale School Board as follows:
1) I will be a responsible steward of taxpayer money. I will treat bond money with the same care I would treat my own money. Hard choices are needed in this economy to assure that no more is spent than necessary to support our children and their education. The structures we build must be economically sustainable and compatible with our environment. We must keep a Riverdale education as affordable as possible for young families.
2) I will be a dedicated steward of Riverdale educational excellence.
3) I will be a good steward of our cultural heritage. Our small community has a 120 year tradition of mutual respect, harmony, and cooperation that has created the educational excellence we have today. We must work together to keep this spirit alive.
