Serena Puts People and Neighborhoods First
Stronger Schools and Libraries – Serena is working with Portland Public Schools to make sure that all children graduate. She’s ensured that our neighborhoods have access to libraries – the new Hollywood library is almost finished and the siting process for a new Interstate Corridor library is underway.
Safer Neighborhoods – Serena fought for more treatment and drug- & alcohol-free housing for offenders who are willing to straighten out their lives. She’s making our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
More Affordable Housing – Serena led Multnomah County’s effort to partner with our local housing authority to win $35 million in federal funds to rebuild the Columbia Villa/Tamarack housing project. This means affordable home ownership, new public housing, job opportunities and a revitalized neighborhood.
Serena Fights for Fairness
Serena worked to ensure that everyone was counted during Census 2000. Counting everyone is critical – it means more resources for Multnomah County.
Serena Watches the Bottom Line
Serena understands budgets. And she’s worked hard to be sure that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, without sacrificing the core values of our community.
