Overview
Older adults raising children often face unique challenges. Navigating your own aging while also caring for a child in school, health, and community settings can create stress and isolation.
The Family Caregiver Support program is available to help address these challenges by providing opportunities for support and guidance to community resources. Support groups, case management, educational opportunities, after school activities, and supplemental services like respite and counseling are available to empower older adults who are navigating the critical role of nurturing and raising children.
Eligibility requirements
You may be eligible for this program if you are:
- Age 55 and older
- Caring for a grandchild or other family member under age 18

Opportunities to receive support
There are a variety of resources available in the program. Some of the most popular resources include:
- Limited support funds are available for supplies or activities related to caregiving
- Educational opportunities
- Support groups
- After-school activities and programs for children
How to apply
- Call the Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) Helpline at 503-988-3646 or email adrc@multco.us
- A community information specialist will discuss your needs and connect you to a program site in your area
- You will receive a call from your program site who will review your eligibility and schedule an assessment for enrollment.

Elders Raising Kids Support Group
Join others who understand the rewards and challenges of raising children as an older adult.
- This group meets virtually on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 1-2 p.m.
