PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE: 2005-Present Budget Committee Member Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVFR); Previous board member Leadership Beaverton; Graduate Leadership Beaverton, Beaverton Police Citizens Academy and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Community Academy.

As a Budget committee member, I have participated in long range goal setting and budget planning for the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue for four years. I have worked hard to help ensure that the District's funding priorities and fiscal planning benefit from a citizen perspective. I have witnessed first-hand the thoughtful, data-driven decision-making common among the District's elected board and senior staff, and have always found my suggestions and questions welcome. I have also spent time riding with TVF&R crews and have great respect for their professionalism, technical expertise, and genuine sense of caring.

I volunteer in the community connecting adult mentors with students at Beaverton High. I provide all the training for the volunteers who serve as mentors and have enjoyed working with Janice Adams, principle of Beaverton High, to ensure that this program meets the needs of students. I have also participated in the Beaverton Police Department's Citizens Academy and have completed ride–a-longs with patrol officers on numerous occasions. I feel it is important to see what is happening within the community, and to get to know the men and women who serve us. I desire to represent the citizens of our community in a positive way. I am encouraged that TVF&R's long-term financial planning allows it to be responsive to community needs, even in this very difficult economic time. I would welcome an opportunity to assist in promoting continued excellence in emergency services, financial stability, and affordability for the taxpayer in the years ahead.
