Happy summer from the PFA team!
As the school year comes to an end, we want to say thank you for being part of Preschool for All! Whether this was your child’s first preschool experience or their final year before kindergarten, we’re so proud to be on this journey with you.
This newsletter is here to share helpful tips, summer resources, and ways to stay connected with the PFA community.

Getting ready for kindergarten
If your child is starting kindergarten this fall, we’ve got you covered with helpful tools and answers to common questions like what to expect, how to register, and tips to make the transition smooth.
Summer fun & support for families
Looking for things to do this summer? Whether you need activities, child care, or parenting support, there are many free or low-cost options in our community.
- Early Kindergarten Transition Programs (EKT) are 2-3 week free summer programs at many SUN Community Schools across the County. Find more information about EKT in Portland Public schools, or find more information about EKT in east county school districts.
- Help Me Grow Oregon is a free family support line that offers help and connections to services.
- Swindells Resource Center has free online parent classes and events.
- Portland Parks & Recreation’s Summer Programming offers low-cost camps, classes, and activities for kids and families.
- Multnomah County Library offers summertime family fun like free events and reading programs.
We’re learning from you!
This year, more than 580 families filled out our annual PFA survey! These surveys are led by our research partners at the Center on the Ecology of Early Development (CEED) at Boston University.
There were also many opportunities for families to share their experiences with the PEL evaluation team. 73 families joined focus groups, interviews, or workgroups.
We’re so grateful! Your voices help us:
