The Preschool for All application is open for the 2026-2027 school year

Apply to Preschool for All.

To be eligible, a child must be 3 or 4 by September 1st of the preschool year and have a parent or legal guardian living in Multnomah County.

Important Dates

Please note: these dates are subject to change. 

• Wednesday, April 1, 2026: The application for the 2026-2027 school year opens at 10 am.
• Thursday, April 30, 2026: Last day to apply. The application for the 2026-2027 school year closes at 11:59 pm.
• Late spring 2026: Families who applied in April are notified of placement decisions.
• Monday, June 15, 2026: The application for the 2026-2027 school year reopens.
• Monday, January 25, 2027: Last day to apply or request a transfer for the 2026-2027 school year.

What is Preschool for All? 

Preschool for All came from a two-year community planning process. More than 100 people created a vision for Multnomah County children and their families. Voters in Multnomah County overwhelmingly supported the Preschool for All ballot measure. 64 percent of voters approved the measure in November 2020. Measure 26-214 directed the Department of County Human Services to administer the program.

Preschool for All (PFA) connects 3- and 4-year-olds in Multnomah County to free preschool. The number of children and families served grows each year. In 2030, all interested families will have access to free preschool.
