The Health Department is looking for new members to serve on our Community Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC).
This committee makes budget recommendations about how to fund programs and services. They advise us about tough budget challenges.
Who Should Apply
We’re looking for volunteers who are interested in public service, and who:
- Want to learn about our programs and services
- Have experience working collaboratively
- Can work respectfully and productively with people of diverse backgrounds and viewpoints
- Can bring insights into the needs and priorities of their communities
People of color and those who have received services from us are especially encouraged to apply.
Serving on a CBAC is a great way to gain leadership experience and meet new people. You’ll learn about government budgeting and planning, and work with Health Department staff and elected officials.
No budgeting or finance expertise is necessary. Members receive a $35 monthly stipend.

How It Works
Positions are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. You’ll meet monthly (and more often as needed) during our budget cycle, which runs from October to June. Meetings happen online.
Members serve a 3-year term. When your term is up, you’ll have a chance to renew for one more term.
You can expect to spend 2-6 hours each month on member duties.
We also provide:
- Technical support to help you join online meetings
- Language translation and interpretation
How to Apply
We prefer applicants who live or work in Multnomah County. Employees may not apply.
