November 3, 2026 General Election 

Elections

Candidate Information 

Starting in 2026, Multnomah County offices will be elected at November General Elections using ranked choice voting (RCV). With this change, County offices will no longer appear on May Primary ballots. 

Candidates or prospective candidates can schedule a 30 minute meeting with the Elections District and Candidate Specialist to discuss or review:

Important Dates for Candidates

  • June 3, 2026 - First date to file for County office
  • July 16, 2026 - First date to file for People's Utility District (PUD) office
  • Aug. 18, 2026 - Filing deadline for elected incumbent candidates
  • Aug. 25, 2026 - Filing deadline for non-incumbent (new) and appointed incumbent candidates
  • Aug. 25, 2026 - Voters' pamphlet deadline for candidates

  • Ranked Choice Voting (RCV)
    • Multnomah County voters will use RCV to elect the County Chair, District 2 Commissioner, Auditor and Sheriff.
    • City of Portland voters will use RCV to elect the City Auditor and City Council members for Districts 3 and 4.
