The County is asking for the community’s feedback on the draft plan which includes an overview of the top 10 safety corridors, safety improvements and a list of priority actions for Multnomah County and East County partners to improve safety on our roadways. The plan was developed through a combination of data analysis and with feedback collected during two previous phases of public engagement. The changes proposed in the plan will help reduce traffic deaths, crashes and close calls.
Background: This input will help shape how Multnomah County, the cities of Gresham, Fairview, Wood Village, Troutdale and the Portland Metro Regional Government create a Transportation Safety Action Plan. The plan will create a roadmap to work towards a safe transportation future in east Multnomah County and list specific projects to get us there. The planning process, funded by the federal Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Program, aims to significantly reduce or eliminate roadway fatalities and serious injuries for everyone, including people walking and biking, public transportation users, motorists and people using wheelchairs or other mobility devices. The final plan is expected to be complete in fall 2025.
