Powerful Tools for Caregivers
An educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a relative or friend. You will benefit from this class whether you are helping a
parent, spouse, or friend. Participants will learn to:
- Reduce stress
- Improve self-confidence
- Better communicate feelings
- Increase their ability to make tough decisions
- Locate helpful resources.
Class meets for 90 minutes once per week for six weeks.

The Savvy Caregiver
Do you care for a family member living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia?
This six-session class offers help to families caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
The workshop was developed by University of Minnesota and has been found to decrease caregiver stress and increase caregiver confidence.
Classes are offered 2-3 times a year.

For classes offered in Gresham care for your loved one is available on site at no cost while you are taking the class. Respite funds may be available to pay for in-home, or for care at an Adult Day Program, for classes at other locations.
Next class starts Monday, September 18, 2017 and ends Monday, October 23, 2017 from 10am-Noon. The class will be held at Mt. Hood Adult Day Center-376 NE 219th Av. Gresham OR 97030.
Navigating the Journey: Help for the Whole Family
Spend a day learning how putting patients and families at the center of decision making, and working alongside medical professionals, produces the best outcomes. Hear from keynote speaker Maureen Nash, MD, the Medical Director for Providence Elderplace, Oregon, which is a Program for All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). Also, take part in such workshops as Music for Health; Understanding and Responding to Dementia; and Meaningful Activities are More Than Just Fun.

Support Groups for Family and Friends Providing Care to an Older Relative or a Friend
All groups below are free and provide a safe place to discuss the stresses, challenges, and rewards of caregiving.
- When: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month
