Safer Sandy Boulevard Design Concept

From September 2024 to May 2026, we studied ways to build a safer Sandy Boulevard for everyone.

Safer Sandy is a planning project to make NE Sandy Boulevard safer for everyone to use. We found improvements for everyone who walks, rolls, bikes, takes transit, or drives on Sandy so they can share the road safely.

Sandy Blvd connects shops, homes, and job centers in Gresham, Fairview and Wood Village. Right now, it is missing some important features such as sidewalks, bike lanes and accessible bus stops. We proposed changes such as:

  • new crosswalks
  • improved street lighting
  • fewer truck conflict points
  • new sidewalks and bike lanes

This project was a partnership with the City of Fairview and made possible with support from Metro.

In June 2025, our consultant reported on the current condition of the road. They also compiled all the plans and policies that affected the area.
