Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Operate delivery trucks and other vehicles to designated sites to pick up and deliver materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Sort and inspect items and confirm route before delivery; ensure proper loading of vehicle before and during transport; load and unload items safely using an electric pallet jack, hand truck, or by hand; obtain and maintain correct delivery authorization and pick-up documentation.
  • Assist in the planning and designing of delivery routes; adjust routes based on conditions, special pick-up and delivery requests, and other customer needs; make miscellaneous deliveries and pick-ups as requested.
  • Perform mailing and shipping services; sort, tray, band, and label mail based on mailing standards; operate automated mailing equipment to classify, rate, and meter mail according to the U.S. Postal Services (USPS); advise customers on different mailing options, rates, and services.
  • Pick up and deliver interoffice mail at county locations; collect cash from library locations, check deposit bags, and deliver to bank; secure, organize, and maintain access for items at joint storage areas.
  • Perform vehicle safety checks; coordinate vehicle maintenance, refuel, and repairs with supervisor or Fleet Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Receive general supervision from manager or staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Driver

Training and experience for entry level, trades classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and up to one (1) year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 0-1 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.

  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
