Job description
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Install, alter, maintain, test, and repair high voltage interior and exterior wiring systems, electrical fixtures, hydraulics, control panels, circuit breakers, transformers, control cables, and related equipment for buildings, bridges, signals, and street lighting in order to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustments.
- Install metal conduit systems, such as calculating bends, saddles, and offsets; install and repair electrical motors and other electrical devices; operate and test electrical generators and Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS); connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Purchase supplies and materials; load, haul, and unload at job sites; assemble and use a variety of tools and equipment.
- Review blueprints, specifications, and technical manuals; plan layouts and installations; maintain accurate records of work performed; document system designs and recommendations for future work; prepare reports.
- Respond to emergency situations where temporary power or related services are needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.
Electrician
Training and experience for journey level, trades classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 1-4 years of qualifying training and/or experience).
Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
REQUIRED TRAINING, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATES:
- General Journey Electrician License issued by the State of Oregon required.
- Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician Certificate required (bridge positions only).
