This is a standalone job profile and is not part of a series. Positions in this job profile alter, maintain, and repair lighting equipment for county facilities, surrounding grounds, and bridges.

Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace light fixtures, switches, and controls; replace light bulbs, ballasts, and other electrical components up to 300 volts.
  • Test lighting egress systems for all County buildings, surrounding areas, and bridges.
  • Purchase all lighting, re­lamping, indoor and outdoor light fixtures, ballasts, and related materials; purchase or rent various lifts; operate forklifts.
  • Perform Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and HIPAA compliance systems documentation and testing; replace and monitor generator fuel used for backup lighting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Receive general supervision from manager or staff.
  • May exercise functional and technical supervision over staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Lighting Technician

Training and experience for journey level, trades classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 1-4 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.

REQUIRED TRAINING, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATES:

  • Possession of Limited Building Maintenance Electrical (LBME) license.
  • Possession of a Forklift training certificate.
  • Possession of an Aerial Work Platform certificate.
