This is a standalone job profile and is not part of a series. Positions in this job profile perform locksmith duties, primarily for electronic locking systems in the adult and juvenile detention facilities.

Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Provide locksmith services for county facilities; duplicate keys; fabricate lock parts not available from manufacturers.
  • Repair, install, and service locks in the jail and detention facilities for both manual and electronic locking systems.
  • Perform carpentry and modifications relating to door and wall locks; read and interpret blueprints; ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.  
  • Develop estimates for equipment, supply, and labor needs; conduct inventory and order supplies; maintain records for locksmith and carpentry work orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Locksmith

Training and experience for journey level, trades classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 1-4 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and /or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
