Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Coordinate or perform review of subdivisions, partitions, and condominium plats and records of surveys; conduct research and investigate boundary resolution, ownership, and right-of-way issues; ensure compliance with statutes, ordinances, and professional standards.
  • Perform mathematical checks with computer aided drafting program; recreate drawings from plats to ensure geometry is correct; identify issues requiring correction and review with management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert regarding land survey questions and issues from land surveyors, the general public, department management, and staff; interpret statutes and ordinances; provide professional opinions on land survey matters.
  • Assist with day to day operations of the Survey Records Office; provide input to management regarding the budget process and revenue projections; assume duties of County Surveyor in absence of County Surveyor and Survey Supervisor; assist in day-to-day functional oversight of the Survey Records Office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • May exercise technical and functional supervision over staff.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Survey Specialist

Training and experience for journey level, professional classifications are typically equivalent to a bachelor's degree and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 5-8 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.

REQUIRED TRAINING, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATES:

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) registration in the State of Oregon.
