Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Oversee construction supervision, inspection, public involvement, environmental and administrative tasks in the design and construction of bridge rehabilitation and modifications, roads, storm drains, traffic safety improvements, traffic signals and other public works functions; coordinate design project management functions including project planning, engineering, administrative plans, intergovernmental agreements, permit documentation and system plans.
  • Perform and coordinate construction management functions, including contract document review, pre-construction conferences, scheduling inspections, contract administration, progress estimates and change order negotiations; coordinate and oversee design and construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures.
  • Act as liaison with managers, engineers, consultants, contractors, vendors and other agencies; investigate concerns and respond to inquiries from the public, contractors and other agencies; make recommendations and appropriate reports.
  • Assist with project studies, planning and design; estimate and collaborate on complex project design; review project plans for conformity to the capital planning process, code, standards and specifications.
  • Serve as project manager or lead performing duties such as scheduling day-to-day activities, coordinating county and contractor functions; prepare progress reports and process payments to contractors; supervise the preparation of final records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Receive direction from manager or staff.               
  • May exercise technical and functional supervision over staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Transportation Project Specialist

Training and experience for advanced level, professional classifications are typically equivalent to a bachelor's degree and three (3) to six (6) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 7-10 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
