This is a standalone job profile and is not part of a series. Positions in this job profile perform audits, inspections and project management of weatherization work for single and multi-family weatherization programs.

Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Perform weatherization and water audits and inspections for single and multi-family work; perform advanced pressure diagnostics, infrared camera inspections and combustion analysis testing; gather and enter data into database and tracking systems; perform in-progress inspections.
  • Meet with weatherization contractors at inspections to verify the correct installation of weatherization measures; record violations and authorize changes or alterations to meet job completion and client satisfaction; conduct technical training sessions with installers to present standards for contractor compliance and quality assurance; place contractors on corrective action if problems and violations persist; reconcile totals on invoices and work orders; make changes on report forms and adjust work orders; approve payments to vendors upon successful completion of job.
  • Review and evaluate staff recommendations of work orders; verify cost effectiveness of work requested; apply budget constraints for proposed weatherization measures; authorize work order changes; assist with staff training on new codes, regulations or equipment; conduct and submit Rem Rate calculations into State program.
  • Assist in the planning and development of program goals, objectives, policies and procedures; interpret policy and procedures for staff, contractors and clients; serve as liaison with contractors; prepare technical reports; maintain the contract tracking system; review and monitor Community Action Program specifications and report to the state; assist in technical recommendations for bid packages.
  • Manage long-term projects and coordinate the work of architects, engineers, contractors, partner government agencies and corporate/agency owners of large buildings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Perform the full range of duties, working independently, applying well-developed subject knowledge, and exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.
  • Fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit.
  • Work is reviewed based on compliance, appropriateness, and effectiveness in meeting goals and deadlines.
  • Receive general supervision from manager or staff.
  • Exercise functional and technical supervision over staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Weatherization Inspector

Training and experience for journey level, technical classifications are typically equivalent to an associate's degree and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 3-6 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.

REQUIRED TRAINING, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATES:

  • Residential Energy Analyst (REA) OR Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certification.
  • Quality Control Inspector Certification (QCI).
  • Training requirements outlined in the United States Department of Energy State Plan.
