Social Security Administration announces Safety Net clients will get April benefits on time

April 18, 2014

Stanley Friendship, regional commissioner for the Social Security Administration, said former Safety Net clients will get their April checks on time.

In a statement released late Friday, March 28, 2014, Friendship said: “The Social Security Administration is working around the clock and through the weekend to ensure that beneficiaries receive their April payments in full and on time. The agency is currently transferring former Safety Net clients who have not yet selected a new representative payee to Share and Care."

Share and Care is an organization that works with individuals needing help with managing their Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments.

The funds for each of the affected Safety Net clients will be available on their normal check receipt date - Tuesday, April 1 for SSI and Thursday, April 3 for Social Security.

The agency recommends that people visit their local Social Security office if they have concerns or need to speak with their new payee. Share and Care will have representatives in both of the Portland Social Security offices (1538 SW Yamhill Street Portland, OR or 17925 S.E. Division Street, Portland OR ) on Tuesday and Thursday.

The agency will have representatives available at the former Safety Net location Tuesday through Friday, April 1 through April 4, for beneficiaries who may not be aware of the changes. Both Social Security offices and the former Safety Net location (519 SE Morrison Street Portland, OR) will have representatives available from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 9:00 am until noon on Wednesday.”
