The public is invited to an open house on Thursday, February 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. to learn about the final design and construction plan for the new Multnomah County Central Courthouse. The event will be in the Main Jury Room (#130) of the existing courthouse at 1021 SW 4th Avenue in Portland.
Members of the project team from the county, Hoffman Construction and SRG Partnership architects will be on hand to share the latest design drawings and construction plans for the courthouse that will be built at the west end of the Hawthorne Bridge. The event will have a drop-in format with informational displays and an opportunity for visitors to ask questions of the project team.
Demolition, site preparation and utility relocation are in progress or have been completed. Excavation and shoring in the block bordered by SW First Ave., SW Jefferson St., SW Madison St. and SW Naito Parkway are scheduled to begin in March. Drilling for foundation shafts is expected to start in June.
Open house displays will show designs for the main entry at SW Madison and SW First Ave., the SW Naito Parkway streetscape, interior public spaces and sustainability features. Information will also be provided on the construction schedule, budget, project team diversity, and how public input has shaped the design.
The public will have an opportunity to comment on construction and design issues. The open house displays and comment form will be posted online February 24. Visit /central-courthouse for more information about the project.
