Grand opening weekend for Multnomah County Animal Services Adoption Center

June 10, 2015

Multnomah County Animal Services is kicking off a three-day grand opening event to celebrate the opening of its new adoption center in North Portland, located at 2914 N. Lombard St. The center will open Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. and be open until 6 p.m. featuring adorable adoptable cats and kittens, plus food and fun for everyone! Through the weekend, the center will be open both Saturday and Sunday, June 13 - 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The official grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony will be Saturday at noon. All three days will feature music, food including vegetarian options, and entertainment for kids and adults alike.

The center, located just east of North Greeley Avenue at 29th and North Lombard, will be open to the public Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, providing a more central location for the community to adopt local pets, license pets and access important MCAS services. It will serve as a satellite location for the Multnomah County Animal Services shelter in Troutdale.

“This will be a great resource for folks in our community.  It will improve access for people who don’t live close to our shelter in Troutdale and encourage adoption of local cats and kittens,” said community outreach manager Napoleon Hodgers.

The adoption center will only offer adoption of cats and kittens but will feature a public access kiosk with information about other adoptable animals at the main shelter in Troutdale.

Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS) is the only open door shelter in Portland, and is the primary agency responsible for lost pet care, animal abuse investigations and animal rescue in Multnomah County.
