April 8, 2019

Portland-based design services firm Mackenzie has announced a partnership with Multnomah County for a scholarship opportunity for a business owner to attend the Minority Business Executive Program (MBEP) at University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. The Minority Business Executive Program is an annual one-week residential program on campus at the University of Washington. This year the program will run September 15 -20, 2019.

“This collaboration began as a conversation last year and we’re excited the idea is now realized as a partnership with Multnomah County,” said Jan Mason, Mackenzie's Director of Marketing.

Josh McDowell, firm Principal at Mackenzie commented, “We’re thrilled to engage in this partnership. Myself and the other board members have made an ongoing commitment to increase our corporate responsibility impact. We are eager to meet the finalist and support their journey to grow their business.”

Lee Fleming, Supplier Diversity Officer with Multnomah County said, "Having a company, such as Mackenzie, to partner with the County to support small business growth says a lot about them as an organization and the value they see in our work. We are excited about the potential of such partnerships and look forward to sending our first candidate under this new partnership."

To apply, a business must be certified by the state of Oregon’s Certification Office of Business Inclusion & Diversity (COBID) program. Please contact Lee Fleming at lee.fleming@multco.us for more information. Applications are due by April 15, 2019.
