October 1, 2020

Multnomah County is closely following public health guidance to ensure the safety of everyone in detention facilities. Public Health has confirmed that two Juvenile Services Division employees have tested positive for COVID-19. The employees had no identified contact with youth who are detained.

The Department of Community Justice (DCJ) will temporarily close its voluntary, short-term residential program on Friday, Oct. 2. We will revisit the timeline for reopening on an ongoing basis.

“We continue to take all necessary measures to protect the health and safety of the young people in our custody, our employees, and community,’’ said Erika Preuitt, director of the Department of Community Justice, which oversees the Juvenile Services Division.  This includes strict adherence to wearing face coverings, physical distancing, and cleaning and hygiene protocols.
