Voice Your Vote

Voice your vote

In an effort to increase voter awareness and participation this election season, Multnomah County Elections in partnership with Multnomah County Library will launch the “Voice Your Vote” workshop series on Thursday, April 21.

This series of educational workshops will:

  • Guide residents through the voter registration process

  • Show them how to navigate online technology to check or update registration status

  • Explain how vote by mail works in Oregon.

The workshop will also address important dates in the upcoming May Primaries and November Elections including: voter registration and party change deadlines, when ballots are mailed and the last day to safely mail ballots.

With the passage of the Oregon Motor Voter Act, a record number of new registered voters are anticipated to participate this election season. The Voice Your Vote workshops are geared toward first time voters; including naturalized citizens, young voters, low-income residents, communities of color, and new Oregon residents.

Eligible residents will learn how to voice their vote and who to ask when questions come up. The workshop will also cover voter assistance programs for residents with disabilities and language access needs. “Voice Your Vote” will  address how residents can help others in their neighborhood and community register to vote.

This is not a political event and is entirely non-partisan. Candidates and measures will not be discussed.

Each workshop is free and open to the public. Some of the workshops will be bilingual, offered in  English and Spanish or English and Somali.

The first workshop is Thursday, April 21 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Gresham Library, 385 N.W. Miller Ave. in Gresham. The attached flier has workshop times and locations.
