Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Utilize published materials or instructions provided by staff to convey standard information to the public about accessing and utilizing program or community resources for health, social, community, educational, and training services.

  • Screen or evaluate client's eligibility for services using standard program information, instructions, and pre-determined criteria; refer clients or the general public to other resources; advocate for and assist clients in securing services from public and private community agencies; perform structured interviews using prepared questionnaires and scripts; assist in entering results.

  • Respond to client and public inquiries regarding the availability and types of services provided by the county or other community resources.

  • Collect, enter, and maintain client information in a variety of databases and software; perform administrative and clerical tasks.

  • Facilitate interactions between client and service provider in client's language to access services, make referrals, and relay information; review, edit, or correct documents to assist clients in accessing services.

  • Provide or coordinate services for client transportation or participation in other program activities; observe, intervene, and communicate concerns to professional staff regarding behavior or physical abilities of clients; compile, stock, clean, and maintain program equipment, materials, and premises.

  • Assist in organizing program activities or recognition events internally and in the community; may assist in soliciting program donations from community businesses and service groups; assist in coordinating the work activities of volunteers, clients, and temporary staff.

  • Work with varied socio-economic groups, disabled populations, young, and elderly clients who may frequently be experiencing stress.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Program Aide

  • Perform the more routine duties as assigned with increasing independence.

  • Decisions made or actions taken require higher-level review and work is checked for progress and reviewed for quality and compliance to policy and procedures.

  • Typically, incumbents may use the entry level to obtain the proficiencies to qualify at the next level in the classification series.

  • Receive general supervision from manager or staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Program Aide

Training and experience for entry level, administrative support classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and up to one (1) year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 0-1 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
