Commissioner Smith, Chair, Sheriff and Auditor swear into office (Slideshow)

New District 2 Commissioner Loretta Smith was sworn into office by the Honorable Adrienne Nelson, a Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge, on Thursday, January 6, 2011 before a large crowd. After swearing in, Commissioner Smith reaffirmed her commitment to fighting human trafficking, creating jobs and supporting services for children and seniors. 

Commissioner Smith was joined by Chair Jeff Cogen, Sheriff Dan Staton and Auditor Steve March, who swore into their respective offices to serve full terms after taking office midterm to replace predecessors. Auditor March and Chair Cogen were sworn in by County Attorney Henry H. Lazenby, Jr. 

Sheriff Staton was sworn in before row of officers by Multnomah County District Attorney Michael Schrunk, with whom he has worked closely in the investigation of Kyron Horman's disappearance. 

During the ceremony, Both Chair Cogen and Commissioner Smith lauded the quality and cooperation of the board of commissioners and expressed optimism about facing the challenges of the coming months together.
