It has been my pleasure to serve on the Corbett School Board for the last 7 years. Over this time, Corbett School District has been recognized for it's innovation and achievement in the class room, on test scores, in athletic competition, and as state champions in band.

While much of the news about the quality of the academic program, the high caliber of the teachers and administration, and achievement of the students has been positive, the impact of the recession on state funding for Corbett is threatening the very existence of our school. During the years I have served on the board, we have faced other budget crises, and always managed to find a way to reduce costs without making significant impacts to the students - we have learn to do more with less. We are now faced with a similar situation, but it is unlikely that just making more cuts will totally solve the problem.

The current projections are that we will have an estimated $575k shortfall for the 2011-2012 school year. I believe my experience with school finance, familiarity with the budget process, combined with an understanding of the role and proper functioning of the board, makes me very qualified to continue to serve on the board. My goal will be to work with other board members, the administration and the community to find solutions that keep Corbett School District thriving and vibrant, even in tough economic times.

I ask that you allow me to continue to serve as board member for Corbett School District for another term.
