- Location: Beaver Creek and Stark Street crossing, just west of Troutdale Road. See map for project area.
- Schedule: Construction is scheduled to begin in mid June 2017 and be completed in October 2017.
This project will replace the undersized culvert and fish ladder on the north side at the SE Stark Street crossing of Beaver Creek. It will be replaced with a channel-spanning open bottom culvert that restores the natural streambed and allows for fish passage. The new culvert will be 150 feet long, designed for a future project that will widen SE Stark Street to four lanes, with sidewalks and bike lanes. The cost of the contract for the culvert replacement is approximately $2.1 million.
Outreach events have been held this spring at Gresham Farmer's Market and at the Skyland Pub. Future outreach events will be listed on this web page.
A 500-foot long section of Stark Street will be closed for four to six months during construction. The closure is scheduled for mid to late June 2017. There will be a detour around the work zone using Cochran Road. All businesses in the area and all the driveways to Mt. Hood Community College will remain open during the road closure.
Below is the vehicle detour to be used during the road closure. This detour will use Cochran Road, Kane Drive and Troutdale Road. TriMet's bus route 80-Kane/Troutdale Road will use this detour route.
Below is the bicycle and pedestrian detour to be used during road closure. This detour will use Corbeth Lane and Troutdale Road.
An outreach event was held on May 20, 2017 at Skyland Pub. The meeting included this staff presentation on the project.
Outreach events were also held in August 2016 and a public meeting was held on December 9, 2015 at Mount Hood Community College to share information on the project design, construction schedule and traffic plan. The 2015 meeting included a presentation on the history of Beaver Creek restoration projects by an AmeriCorps volunteer:
Another presentation was made by County Road Engineering staff at the 2015 meeting describing the project, schedule and traffic plan:
