This Saturday, April 22, 2017, Multnomah County will honor Earth Day by illuminating the Morrison Bridge in green and blue.
Replacement of the lift span deck on the Morrison Bridge will limit drawbridge openings to a single leaf until the project is completed in October 2017.
Construction on the Morrison Bridge will require a series of bridge openings Tuesday, April 4 after 7 pm which could each last twenty minutes. Drivers can avoid delays by using a different bridge.
Work to replace the Morrison Bridge lift span deck will require more equipment to be staged in the south path on the bridge.
Four of six traffic lanes on the Morrison Bridge will close on Monday, April 3 at 7 a.m. as work to replace the failing deck on the lift span begins.
The outside eastbound lane and the south sidewalk of the Broadway Bridge will be closed on Sunday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon during the Race for the Roses running event.
The public is invited to an open house on Thursday, March 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. to learn about repair projects scheduled on the Broadway, Burnside and Morrison bridges in 2017.
In February 2017 the contractor began to work on the bridge, with minimal impact on bridge users.
The Morrison Bridge lift span will be opened twice between 1 am and 2 am early on Monday, March 13 so that a contractor can perform work on the bridge related to replacement of the lift span deck.
One outside traffic lane will be closed on the Morrison Bridge from March 6 – 10 during the biennial structural inspection of the bridge.
The Morrison Bridge will be closed to motor vehicle traffic on Sunday, February 26 from 7 a.m. until as late as 7 p.m. during an inspection and maintenance work on the lift span deck.
The Hawthorne Bridge will be closed to motor vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians on Saturday, November 12 from 7 am to 5 pm during maintenance work, weather permitting.
